Description
-
- Nothing affects the first impression
of your home like the appearance of your pressure-treated wood
deck. And no sealer excels like Organiclear Wood and Deck
Sealer (WDS) for the best expression of your "welcome."
With Organiclear WDS, you get the benefits of a beautiful
finish, resiliency, and quality protection for your deck, promising
years of family enjoyment.
- Organiclear WDS will aid
in revealing and maintaining the natural beauty of wood decks.
The unique WDS formulation blends a combination of deep-penetrating
oils, resins and water repellents to form a MOISTURE-GUARD
barrier which protects wood against the ravages of rain, snow,
or dampness in any climate. It controls splitting, warping, cracking,
swelling and shrinking to add years to your deck investment.
- With Organiclear WDS,
water droplets are dramatically repelled while the wood is allowed
to "breathe" naturally through an invisible microporous
film that will not crack, peel, blister or flake like paint.
- The natural grain beauty of
the wood is enhanced by using the clear finish. If a touch of
color is desired, one of our several
stains may be used. For the upkeep and maintenance of your
exterior wood deck, trust Organiclear WDS.

- Application
Guidelines
-
- Directions Before Use:
- Prior to use, mix the WDS treatment
well and do not dilute formulation. Routinely stir during application.
-
- Wear Proper Clothes:
- To protect against skin irritation,
you or your wood treatment contractor should always wear a long-sleeved
shirt, long pants and goggles. Also use an OSHA approved mask
to protect against inhalation of vapors. For your information
and safety, please take the time to read the product label carefully
before use.
-
- Weather Check:
- Apply between the temperatures
of 50° and 90°F. Do not apply when hot, wet or windy
weather conditions are expected within 36 hours. Always wait
for rain or dew to dry before application.
-
- Surface Preparation:
- Be sure that wood is free from
dirt, dust, bark, sawdust, mud, and preweathering discoloration.
Deck wood must be dry, unsealed, and unpainted. Scrubbing with
a detergent/water mixture will remove any dirt. If mildew is
present, it can be killed and removed by scrubbing with a solution
of one quart household bleach, one gallon of water and one pound
of Tri-Sodium Phosphate (available at your local hardware store)
or non-ammoniated detergent. Rinse off completely and allow to
dry after scrubbing.

-
- What
to do before applying a sealer or stain to a new deck or wood
-
- Although a brand new deck or
wood may look clean, it has dirt, mildew, waxy residues and mill
glaze.
-
- Mill glaze is produced by high
speed planes in modern lumber mills. Often the high speed planes
not only plane the wood, but they crush the exterior wood fiber
to create a very shiny lumber surface. The crushed fibers do
not let stain and seal coatings absorb properly, causing finish
failure.
-
- Apply a deck preparation mill
glaze remover product. These products are designed to clean the
deck, lower the pH, relieve the surface tension and help the
wood to absorb the sealer or stain evenly. This assures maximum
stain absorption, prevents flaking or scaling of the coating
and leads to a longer lasting job without a splotchy look.
-
-
- Coats:
- One coat is sufficient to repel
water on most wood surfaces, however a second coat can be applied
if desired.
-
- Coverage:
- Depending upon the method of
application and the porosity, texture and dryness of the wood,
allow 200 - 400 square feet per gallon. Addditional coats should
cover 300 - 500 square feet per gallon.
-
- Method of Application:
- For best results, apply in shade.
Direct sunlight may dry the finish too rapidly for maximum penetration
and brush marks could result. Refer to the product label for
additional conditions. For best results, treat new or pressure
treated wood prior to deck construction to ensure thorough coverage
of all four sides and end grains. Treat any newly exposed wood
ends after cutting. Apply Organiclear WDS liberally to
the point of saturation using either:
- a quality paint brush,
- an airless sprayer (rentable)
- or a pump-type garden sprayer.
-
- Drying Time:
- Allow 12-24 hours for drying,
depending upon temperature and humidity conditions in your area.
-
- Clean-up:
- For fast clean-up, use mineral
spirits or paint thinner to clean brushes and equipment as well
as to remove drips and spatters from all surfaces after completion
of work. Use soap and water to wash skin thoroughly after handling
the material.
-
- Storage:
- Cover the product when not in
use. Keep in tightly sealed containers out of reach of children.
-
- Care and Maintenance:
- To preserve the wood deck finish,
regular maintenance will be required. Exterior wood surfaces
should be inspected annually or as needed depending on exposure.
Conditions such as continual standing water from sprinkling systems,
etc., may require additional inspection and maintenance for satisfactory
performance. See product label for instructions. See our Log Home Care And Maintenance Guide.
-
- Packaging:
- Available in 1,5,and 55-gallon
containers. The most convenient container for most
applications will be 5-gallon pails.
